Really liked the teaching philosophy at Jelic. “Every child is the main character in the learning process.” Hence the programs designed emphasises on self-control and progressive learning. This allows my boy to take a big step in learning as he is more confident of his capabilities and will take initiative to solve problems now.
JELIC is part of MPM but caters to preschoolers below 5 years old. So after JELIC, my child will progress on to MPM when she reaches K1. The good thing is that they offer trial classes which I could sit in for a while. The whole program consists of 450 boxes of hands on manipulative materials which are useful for visual and analytical thinking. For each box there will be worksheets to complete both in the class and at home. My daughter covers about 3 to 4 boxes each lesson and her teacher comments that the number of boxes covered usually depends a lot on my girl's speed and also the class size for that time slot. I would say JELIC is more of a brain training and introducing of math concepts rather than entirely on math. My girl is so far quite happy with her current facilitator and I am looking forward to progressing to MPM.
