Question:
If a preschool focuses more on Chinese language, does it mean that other subjects like Maths will also be taught in Mandarin? Will their English language be weaker then?
Answer:
While subjects like Maths, Cookery and PE etc. will be taught in Mandarin, the English programme is crafted based on the requirements of the MOE.
The daily one-hour sessions are conducted at K1 and K2 levels. The programme focuses on building vocabulary and developing oral, reading and writing skills.
Besides penmanship, there are many opportunities for children to develop their ability to express themselves through the written form, such as making lists, recalling events, expressing an opinion, describing things they have created, writing stories, etc. The variety of writing experiences creates an interest and hunger for learning the English language.
The feedback we receive from our annual survey indicates that parents are very happy with our English curriculum, and that they feel their children have been well prepared for Primary
