A wide range of quality literature is provided and children have the opportunity to read for their own interest, pleasure and general knowledge. Readers Workshop strikes a balance between providing essential, explicit and systematic phonics instruction combined with an equally strong approach to focusing on the meaning of the information we are asking the children to read. Children will be taught the skills and strategies for reading so that they will adapt and use these skills throughout their entire lives. This program is specially designed to create successful future writers through fostering an enjoyment in children in an engaging and dynamic manner.
