First Code Tinker (Age 6-8)

The First Code Tinker program instills the concept that technology is a creator’s tool to the young curious minds. By using fun and educational technology kits, including Scratch, LittleBits, Makey Makey, and Dash etc, First Code Tinker moves students beyond mobile and computer gaming, and gets them hands-on experience in programming and hardwares. Structure •First Code Tinker Program runs from Jan-Mar, Mar-May, and Sep-Nov •9 weekly classes per term, each class is 1.5 hours long •Class size ranges from 4 to 8 students •Exclusive invite to special one-off workshops •Semester, individual feedback from instructor •End of term one-on-one parent teacher conference

    Coding is so great! Kids can learn so much during coding such as problem solving skills and logical thinking, even computer skills and math skills can be acquired during coding. My son is learning all of this at First Code Academy and so far I am impressed with his progress. I feel that children who are interested in coding can start off here as they guide beginners really well.

    People have been talking about big data and data analytic and it seems like a big thing nowadays. Therefore, I send my preschooler to First Code Academy for a first hand experience on some simple computer science. I do not believe in one straight route to success but I feel that it will be a good exposure to him and help to enhance his computational thinking as well. I think it is hard to see results for computer science unlike typical subjects where I can test them? Would love to know if there are any methods to know whether my child has benefited from his lessons! At least he enjoys the lesson. (:
