Little Bears Club (from 2.5 years)
Focusing on early literacy skills, the Little Bears Club (LBC) is a programme for very young children from 2.5 years and follows the "From Language to Literacy" concept developed by Total Literacy and the I Can Read System. These early literacy interactive lessons are designed for very young children to encourage and develop their oral communication skills through a wide variety of child-centered activities that stimulate the child s perception of the world and develop language. Every lesson will include greetings, storytime, listening comprehension, students re-tell the story, picture description, vocabulary, phonology, conversation and oral presentation skills. The student uses a Little Bears Club workbook. The LBC class is for 1 hour, once a week. Age range is from 2.5 years to approximately 4 years.

This is the 3rd term with I Can Read, cannot comment much on the lesson structure itself as it was not parent accompanied. However, they did allow me to sit in for the very first lesson (as my girl was crying and refused to let me go) and I like the 1 hour activities in proper English. They did picture talks, Coloring and story descriptions plus loads of conversations. The kids were taught phonics etc too. Her teacher now is Teacher Ayffa who I heard has been teaching for 7 years at ICR and we love her. She always feedback to me on what my girl did in class etc and very encouraging, can tell that my girl becomes very chatty in her presence too. However, a new teacher taking over teacher Ayffa next month as Ayffa cannot teach weekends anymore, hope she is as good so that the kids are encouraged to speak up in class.
