Play and Stay
At Tanglin Academy, we make fitness a priority by introducing tennis as easy, fun & healthy so starter players first experience is both positive and enjoyable. Our Play and Stay program provides a sound development structure for kids through 3 colour-coded stages Red, Orange and Green. Through these stages a series of developmental steps are created to allow players to progress along a pathway according to their age, ability, confidence and orientation to competition. In the process, the court size, racket length, ball speed and duration of games all increase until the player is ready to move onto the full full-size court and use a Yellow ball. Duration varies from 60 minutes to 90 minutes. Fee varies from $18 to $25.

I sent both my kids to Tanglin Academy for tennis lessons every week. Registration fee is $30 which actually comes with their free T-shirt which my kids can wear during their lessons. We chose the classes during the Saturday mornings for convenience. There are 3 different color stages to go through red, orange and then green. My older one is currently in the green stage and the fees are more expensive as they move up the stage but the duration is of cos also longer 90 mins session. My younger one is currently at the red stage and the duration is only 60 mins. Lessons are really affordable. At lower levels, they will train in smaller courts and with slower balls so that the kid can practice more of the stroke techniques first and ball control. We need to bring our own rackets and I bought mine at Queensway although they do sell at their academy. You can just get the instructor to recommend you some of the models that are suitable or preferred. I feel that it provides a good environment for kids to learn and have interest in playing tennis as there are many other kids learning as well. The only downside is that cos its an outdoor activity, the weather really plays a very important part although they do have make up classes offered.
