Yamaha Junior Course
Full of energy, chatty and inquisitive. These are words associated with four-year-olds. At this age, they absorb things like a sponge and imitate everything they see and hear. Children at this age show a remarkable development in their sense of hearing, which is why it's the best time to cultivate the basic ability to enjoy music.

Yamaha is an excellent choice for ear training and music appreciation. It is well rounded with a variety of activities like use of percussions, singing, solfege singing, training of ears to listen to notes, recognizing of notes, simple actions to follow with music played and playing different pieces throughout the term. There is 2 books one is the music book and another is the workbook. Music book is used during all classes and the workbook is used to doing homework at home. There is also a term concert where the teacher will select the different songs to sing and dance, pieces that is played by everyone as a group and also individual pieces. The repertoires pieces are really nice. The only downside is that it's parent accompanied but sometimes the teacher will involve the parents as well. Otherwise most parents will be using their hp during lessons.
I have been bringing my 5 yrs old daughter every Sunday for the yamaha junior course for half a year. As a working mom, I look forward to bond with my girl. Through this prog, I am able to sing with her and watch my daughter perform at the end of term concert. However, practice conscientiously after every lesson is important. Though I have no music background, I am able to recognise some notes which her teacher taught in class. She has to complete her homework after every lessons mainly practicing the repertoire learnt and some theory homework like writing the notes and signs. We will be continuing the prog and hopefully promoted to the next level after the end of course exams.
