Starter programmes - Nursery 1 to Kindergarten 2
At the Starters’ Level, children will begin to acquire the basic knowledge in Chinese and work towards understanding basic characters. At this stage, we focus on using various strategies to develop the children’s love for Chinese. The programme is designed to stimulate the children’s interest in Chinese and prepare them for primary school education. Our curriculum includes: • Recognising Basic Chinese Characters • Articulating in Chinese in their daily lives • Develop critical thinking skills in Chinese The methods include: • Visual/ Spatial: Use of Handicraft/Colors 手工制作、绘画 • Musical and rhythms: Use of Children’s Songs 唱歌跳舞 • Imaginative: Use of Cartoon Characters 卡通人物与口语表达 • Linguistic: A Bilingual Learning Environment 双语学习环境 • Bodily: Collaborative learning. (Sharing, Storytelling, Show and Tell) 互动式学习（讲故事、演说）

My children attend classes at The Grandstand every week and came across Yang Language School while waiting for my children. The centre looks new and clean and spacious and most importantly its convenient for me. Out of curiosity, I went in to ask about their mandarin program and fees and was happy that they do offer a free trial class where I was invited to sit in and observe how the class is being conducted. They use different medium to run the class - there's like video, singing with music, art and craft and worksheets and group teaching. These interactive activities do help to stimulate my children interest in Mandarin. It was only 1 trial hence I have yet to really have a grasp of the effectiveness of the program.
